Desert life
So last night was one of those nights where I could picture myself and my wee wooden housee being sucked up into the atmosphere, Wizard of Oz style. Winter has truly hit Margaret River and it’s nearly time to head north. The destination - Warroora, where the beach meets the desert. There’s nothing to do except swim, snorkel, beach-comb, surf and fish. And since I don’t fish, that...

Savage Salvage
Ok so I’m a half-virgin when it comes to buying anything off the internet. (The only thing I ever bought previously was books from Amazon…pretty tame stuff).
So check out this totally cute present to myself, purchased off Etsy! (www.savagesalvage.etsy.com - The epitome of every piece of jewellery I wish I ever owned/thought up).
Gasp! That packaging! It’s like brown paper...

Serene
These snaps come from the blog of the owners of Spell Designs. The Byron Bay duo make lovely accessories. I especially appreciate the white lace flares. I also wish my bed looked that whimsical. What happened to me? As a teenager I was killing it - had a four-post bed with the whole shebang, a muslin canopy and everything. Oh that’s right, I got a boyfriend and now I sleep on a comfy yet...

Dolce far niente.
The other day I was on Facebook and came across a photo album by an Italian friend of mine, which was named “Dolce far niente”. This literally translates to “Sweet do nothing”, otherwise known as doing sweet fudge all.
I love this phrase, because it romanticises my habit of lolling around on the couch looking at blogs, writing, watching a movie or reading magazines in my...

Blog blog bloggies.
Good morning! I figured you were probably falling over yourselves to find out what my favourite blogs are. So I’ve compiled this wee list here.
Firstly, my favourites from tumblr, in no particular order.
Fashion
I started out following a lot of fashion blogs, but then culled a whole heap of them because they seemed to be a mixture of cutting and pasting without much coherence. Therefore I...

Entertaining - behind the scenes
Last night my beloved and I hosted an evening of seafood tapas at our humble abode.
I tell you, having people over for dinner is not just a simple matter of…having people over for dinner. One spends the morning deliriously traipsing up and down the aisles of Coles and forking out probably enough money to shout everyone a nice restaurant meal instead (granted, we bought oysters).
Then one...

Post-exam fun
On Wednesday I finished my last exam for the semester. There’s nothing quite like the feeling you get after that stress. I walked into it without even a pen, and had to borrow one off the supervisor.
Afterwards though, joy of joys! I got to spend the afternoon with my bestie. We ate at a pleasant cafe and indulged in macarons, as is the custom, in true Gossip Girl/Marie Antoinette style....

From where you'd rather be
Yay! Very soon my life is going to get a whole lot more like this ad:
(Which, by the way, is very effective, because if you find yourself at a place and have a “from where you’d rather be moment” you’re now very likely to crack a Corona just to prove that you are having said moment, even if you don’t like beer. Or Coronas. Ahem.)
So yesterday I confirmed a holiday...

Labyrinth
When I was little this was the epitome of a good time. (Wait, who am I kidding? It’s still a good time!) Sarah from Labyrinth wearing that awesome princess dress. Sure it’s slightly 80s but in this case I think the excess is warranted. She’s dancing at a ball and being serenaded by DAVID BOWIE aka Jareth the Goblin King.
…AND my world got turned upside down a little...

Workplace politics
This is an actual conversation I had with someone yesterday at work. (I work at a winery and they were phoning me from the warehouse):
“Na, you can’t get a hold of that wine. The only stock we have left is in the museum or the dungeon.”
Without any sense of irony, we have a dungeon. No, I’ve not yet been there. Maybe that’s why I’m still alive.

Stylin'.
Forgive me if I get a little social science-y on yo asses for a moment, but I have been studying of late and these things have a way of creeping into my mind, osmosis-like.
But it’s actually interesting this time, I promise!
We’re going to take a wee look at a pet hate of mine.
Consider these phrases: “I envy his lifestyle”, “she has a relaxed lifestyle”....

Rocks.
I was gonna go with “A rockin’ good idea” as a headline, but I stopped and took a good hard look at myself.
Anywho, how cute and mysterious are these? They are made by Cori Kindred and available from her Etsy store. They also look like they would be easy to recreate at home - a way to put that pet rock collection to good use.
