Period drama + winter = perfection
Lately I’ve rediscovered the value of having a library card. At this point, the sassy teenager I work with would call me a “weirdo” and a “loser”, but that’s why I’m friends with her - I’m a masochist.
On these awesome gray days filled with rain and thunder and lights on in the house at 10am, my library card has opened up a whole other world of...

Join the Arm Party.
I’ve just been enlightened. Thanks to the blog www.manrepeller.com I have been introduced to the concept of the “arm party”. (BTW, am I the last person on earth to stumble across this blog? If not, it’s all about fashion that women love but men hate - hmm now why does that sound familiar I wonder?).
So since I recently got pretty crafty in the ol’ bracelet...
Did you know that for pretty much the entire history of the human species, the...

Winter Wonderland
It was so nice to arrive home on Sunday and be met with sunshine and greenery instead of wind and rain. That made the come-down from my holiday so much better.
It’s nice to fall in love with where you live every now and then - to stop and be thankful.
The sky was blue, the ocean like a lake, the bees were busy, the horses were neighing and my little lamb friends from next door had...

Queen Kate
So I go away for two weeks and Kate Moss gets married. I tell you, turn your back for one second…! But seriously, this is how you do a wedding, people. I could just eat up those flower girls. Their wreaths are so cute, I have a similar one myself and I think I might put it on and go frolic outside and pick daisies and do other whimsical activities.

Frankie
I’m subscribed to Frankie magazine and when my latest issue came in the post, the wrapping had this cute little illustration on it. It captures exactly how I feel waiting for each edition to arrive!

Knitwit vandals!
This is the sight that welcomed me at the entry of my local supermarket today. I’d read about groups of knitting vandals in magazines and on the internet but now they’re operating in my area! Such a great form of vandalism, I bet those white bollards are thankful for their new jumpers in these cold winter days. It seemed so out of place, this quasi street art, in a country beach town...

Ocean jewels.
While up north I indulged in a spot of beach combing, which I had previously thought of as a pretty delusional activity, until I discovered its therapeutic benefits.
Behold, the treasure I collected! Some of the beaches were so laden with shells, I half expected to come across a mermaid combing her hair or something. Didn’t happen though. It got me thinking how beautiful the ocean’s...

Desert life part 2
Hello, I’m back!
I’ve had such a nice lazy time lolling around on the beach, swimming, reading, writing and jewellery-making, pretty much as I planned.
Warroora was beautiful. The days were warm and sun-filled. We saw whales, drank G&Ts at sunset and ate freshly-caught fish every second night for dinner.
This was the beach where we lived for two weeks - The Lagoon.
This...

Playlists - or mix tapes for the new generation.
It’s no secret that making playlists is a favourite past-time of mine. In my youth I was one of those annoying people who would hijack the host’s stereo system at parties to promptly wack on some burnt disc of musical heaven I had created myself. (These days it’s called iPod-jacking, isn’t it?)
At the last party I held, a friend of mine, recently returned from Europe,...
